The post Chip Mehaffey era began Friday night for Winchester with a 69-46 win over the Rebels of Randolph Southern. The first half was competitive, as the Falcons took a 6 point lead into the locker room. However, the picked up the pressure on the defensive end, and increased the tempo of their offense to pull away in the 2nd half. Senior
Cole Lawerence led the Falcons with 16 points, connecting on 4 3's. Junior guard
Cody Woodbury contributed 14.
Woodbury is a good outside shooter, and also displayed the ability to get to the basket and finish through contact. He is a solid D3 prospect. 6'8'' senior
Brandt Miller managed only 9 points while fighting foul trouble.
For the Rebels, senior Nick Pruitt led all scorers with 18 points, 16 coming in the first half. This is Pruitt's first game since his sophomore year, he missed last season due to an injury. I was impressed with his scoring ability in the first half, as he connected on 4 3's, however, he disappeared in the 2nd, managing to only get 1 field goal late in the game.
I will be at a game tonight, but have not yet decided where I want to go yet.
